Reliable and rugged but very disappointed with their quality control standards

You simply cannot beat a Ruger for reliability and ruggedness at a reasonable price. This model certainly carries on these qualities. My only gripe with Ruger firearms these days(and it's a very valid gripe!) Is the poor fit and finish of these guns. Many have very rough machine work and numerous imperfections that quite frankly never should have been allowed to leave their factory. Ruger guns of the past always had very good fit and finish. It seems that ruger has lowered it's quality control standards to increase production and cut overall costs. It's really a shame too, because spending hundreds of dollars on a firearm is a major purchase for most of us, and receiving them with very poor final finishing defects is a major disappointment for a company that had always been a personal favorite of mine. If their quality control does not improve soon then i will very sadly be forced to abandon any future purchases from them. you can do so much better than this ruger!

Outstanding! lOW RECOIL, BUT ULTRA FAST ROUND. tHE GUN RECOILS A BIT MORE THAN A 22, BUT IS LOUD LIKE A 9MM. gREAT ACCURACY AND A BLAST TO SHOOT. i AM STILL WAITING FOR RUGER TO SEND THE BASE PLATE, SO i CAN INSTALL THE vORTEX RED DOT i HAVE FOR IT.

Great pistol, so-so trigger

This gun is amazing to shoot. Very flat. Minimal recoil. 2 inch groups at 15 meters and I'm by no means a tournament level marksman. Put about 300 rounds through it. No malfunctions. My only gripe, and why I only gave 4 stars, is the trigger. It's not horrible, but it's a bit mushy. Less take up and shorter reset would give the 57 a perfect score. But even with the “so-so" trigger, I prefer this over the FN57 any day.
Rough around the edges..

I signed up to be notified when the pistol was available and bought once it was in stock. I paid a little more with GAG but nothing was available anywhere else. The Ruger 57 isnt 100% comfortable but the magazine well has to be so long. I just wish it was more rounded off instEad of so square. The FN 5.7 is more round and comfortable. Also my biggest complaint is the milling marks on the slide. Rugers quality control really failed on thIs part. The serratIons in the sliDe have very rough milling marks and looks horrible. This may be a CHEAPER version Of FNs 5.7, but its still a $750 pistol and should look better than What mine does..That being said, i really like the sights and everything else seems to be of great quaLity.
Fun gun!

What a hoot. This thing is probably just too much fun to have as a range gun only, it really makes me want to get into varmint shooting again. It is accurate, light recoiling and reliable. The only two things that dragged it down from a 5 star were that the mags are hard to get the last couple of rounds in and the trigger is a bit mushy and, with my small hands, I have to make a concerted effort to get my finger up on the trigger so it won't drag on the trigger guard. I am definitely pleased with the gun
Love the pistol

love the pISTol and would have given 5 stars except I cant find any ammo that doesn't involve selling my house to pay for it.
shoots straight

Ruger 57 shoots real straight, ammo is available but alittle pricy to shoot a lot . I like to shoot 200 rds a visit to the range. but at $1 a rd I do not shoot as much as i like. I like the feel of the pistol. the slide is a little hard to rack for a old man. have a archnigrip slide help on the way
Get yourself one!

All I can say is, THIS IS MY BABY!!! I love this firearm. Fully loaded it weighs less than my unloaded full size M&P 9mm and probably less than or fairly close to my unloaded M&P Shield 45. This thing is comparable to a toy. Recoil next to nonexistent. It looks super cool and it was priced far better than the only other five seven handgun on the market. I came to buy the FN when I saw this Ruger and GAG had it in stock. No one else did. They were all on back or pre order. Great save yet again GAG. Ammo isn't as bad as some may think but it can be difficult to find. Difficult not impossible. Overall, I'd take this with me to any high noon showdown or Mexican STANDOff. If GAG have it and you want it, GET IT. You won't regret it.
