This is a great rifle. I have owned a Gen 1 and it was great. Very accurate, easy to use and conceal, and cheap to shoot in 9mm. I wanted the newer Gen 2 version.

I have a Glock 17, like the fact that it is 9mm, and I like that it is lightweight and folds to 16 inches. I also heard it shoots pretty well.

I have Glock pistols and now I have further use for the magazines. It also seems to be well liked by its current users.

Must front sight be removed to mount a suppressor?
Joel on Dec 26, 2018
BEST ANSWER: II don't think so, and I don't think the front sight can easily be removed at all. However the suppressor might interfere with your ability to use the iron sights anymore. They might not be tall enough to clear the suppressor. Then you would have to use a different optic mounted on the top of the rifle to get higher than the suppressor. If you do that, you wouldn't be able to fold the rifle in half anymore since the scope is in the way. Check YouTube to see how the setup looks. You shouldn't need to do any modifications to put the suppressor on, it just might get in the way of the sights.

Great Carbine
This is my 3rd sub 2000. I bought the original - it was fantastic. The Gen 2 had some very good updates so I sold it and bought one about 2 years ago. That was when they were having all of the trouble with the sights. My front sight was so far off it could not be used. I had it 2 weeks and called Kel Tec. They would not pay for a shipping label even though it was brand new under warranty. I sold it immediately. I heard that they fixed the issue so I tried it again. The gun is fantastic. Shoots straight at point-of-aim out of the box. This one is a keeper.

Definitely has it's place
First thing, get over the "it's a Kel Tec" Stigma, Kel tec has done a really good job with this firearm. If you are looking for a lightweight PCC for carrying in a Computer bag, backpack, or back of the seat map pocket, this is a really good option.

If you want to customize your SUB2K, there are several companies out there like MCARBO, Tacticool, Twisted Industries, Red Lion Precision, and Midwest Industries that offer some really nice parts to make the gun fit your specific uses.

This is a great little gun, and should be a consideration for your collection.

Carbines have too much kick for me. Shoulder surgery went bad
Nifty for a backpack, camping. I would want one if I was camping in unfamillar territory.. You have to spend alot of money on upgrades on these things.

Too much fun!
Have put +200 rounds this gun. Cheek weld is something anyone would want to address, but have no serious complaints so far. Plenty of add on's to consider. Could not beat the price.

Better then Gen 1 with minor drawbacks
I have both the Gen 1 and now the Gen 2 versions.

Pros on Gen 2
- Front sight is much better and sturdier
- Threaded barrel
- Adjustable Stock
- MLOK mounts on side allow for front sling attachment
- Rail allows for laser/light
- Buffer tube appears to have a better finish than Gen 1
- Grip texture is much better than Gen 1
- Ejection port is much larger than Gen 1
- Came with 17 round pmag magazine for glock version
- charging handle is improved

Cons
- Design of stock to tube causes a pinch to the cheek if placed in the wrong place, gen 1 did not do this
- When folded the barrel is slightly off center to the left in the stock notch
- When opened there was some up and down play in the barrel, had to remove handguard and put tape shims in the tension nut/washer since the nut is loc-tited in place, now it is tight like my gen 1, kel-tec said they all have some looseness when I contacted them
- Rear sight on mine had a small piece of plastic notched out of it, keltec is supposed to be sending me a new rear sight
- had to loosen the pivot screws a little it was way too tight on folding and unfolding from the factory, causing the sight to dig into the plastic pivot edges
- the trigger is much better on my gen 1, very gritty and stiff on gen 2, but it is improving some as I put some rounds through it, it appears that too much oil on trigger components really makes it worse, dry is better.

Overall I like the Gen 2, but will probably still keep my gen 1 also.
