Single action for this one. A great double stack 1911...I love mine. If you are looking for a great DA/SA, try the CZ Shadow 2 compact or carry version.
It’s single action. Identical size and shape like the staccato CS. I love this gun
it’s a double stack 1911. Single action only, like all 1911’s.
Single action, like it's predecessor the 1911
It’s a 1911. Single action.
Single. Great pistol.

The Springfield Prodigy does not come with one specific optic plate, but rather a cover plate, and it requires an Agency Optic System (AOS) adapter plate that is purchased separately depending on the desired optic, such as for a Trijicon RMR or a Holosun. The pistol ships with a plate that accepts HEX optics and also functions for certain other optics like the Burris FastFire 3 or Vortex Venom, but other footprint plates are sold by Springfield Armory and third-party vendors. What comes with the Prodigy: A cover plate for when no optic is mounted. One AOS adapter plate compatible with HEX optics and certain other optics like the Vortex Venom.
As is it’s not cut for any optic. You have to buy an adaptor plate for whatever pattern that you are looking to install on this handgun. P.S. mine runs flawlessly, and shoots super accurately with a holosun eps carry mounted.
Pick the optic desired and purchase the associated plate for it from Springfield… comes with the iron sight on the plate. Love this gun! 1000’s of rounds through it with zero issues.
I have put 2 different ones on mine already. The OSite Super Compact Carry and the Holosun Green 6 MOA Dot (EPS-CARRY-GR-6) and liked both. If I can get an email address I'll send pics.
Need to read about the Agency Optic System (AOS) plates. It comes with a plate for the Springfield Armory red dot, if you want something else you need to purchase a different plate.
I never figured out if there was a direct mount (no plate required) option for mine. Ultimately I went with the Holosun 509T with adapter plate. It gets the job done.
It has the AOS plate system so you choose your optic. Easily googled.

The size is great But I don't use it because the mag release is very difficult to reach.
Very nearly the same, a few ounces heavier. If you go to handgunhero web siteyou can see an excellent visual side by side comparison.

Very enjoyable pistol to shoot and very accurate with zero failure to feed. Been wanting a prodigy to carry, so when the 3.5 came out I had to buy it.
I LOVE this gun but when loaded is a heavy gun for EDC. Fun to shoot and accurate!
A fantastic smaller version DS 1911!! I was close to purchasing the 4.5” version when this little gem came out. Once GrabaGun received it, I jumped on it. So glad I did! I have over a 1000 rounds of various weights and hollow points with zero issues so far. My only complaint is that I wish it came with tritium night sights for both the front and rear sights from the factory.
Great, accurate, SMOOTH, COMFORTABLE, a little chunky.
They definitely fixed the issues with these guns. The original 5" i got barely functioned, the 4.25" was better but needed alot of upgrades to get it where I wanted it. But this one has been perfect out of the box for the first 800 rounds.
Couldn't be happier. I have the 4.25 full-size grip. This is so much lighter
The gun wouldn’t cycle right out of the box. Sent it back and it’s been flawless since. Over 2000 rounds through with no problems.
Nice pistol.. great lil DS 1911
Love being able to carry a 1911ds , big fan of the Prodigy grip texture. Very accurate shooting firearm, can wait to get back to the range, love shooting the 3.5.
I have put about 400 rounds through the thing and so far it has eaten all kinds of target ammo and about a hundred rounds of federal HST + P. So far everything has been great with no malfunctions. I mounted an EPS carry and the combo is unbelievably accurate. I just love this thing!
