SMITH AND WESSON 22 VICTORY OVERVIEW

With a stainless-steel frame, bolt, and barrel, the SW22 Victory is comparable in size and weight to the Commander 1911 pistol. The substantial thirty-two-ounce weight helps keep the pistol steady in shooting and dissipates recoil.

It’s easy to keep your adjustable sights on target in continuous shooting, so you’ll be fast and accurate. The fiber optic pipes are in contrasting yellow and green, so they’re easy to see. If you choose to replace the rear site with the optional Picatinny rail, it has a backup fixed rear sight, and you can still mount optics.

The trigger is crisp and clean, with a preset pull at just over three and a half pounds, but it’s adjustable for overtravel. It has a right-handed manual safety, and the magazine release is on the left, behind the trigger.

The SW22 Victory will shoot a wide range of ammo. “The accuracy results produced by the Smith & Wesson Victory are some of the best I have seen from a production semi-auto .22 LR handgun. This thing can really shoot, and it will easily handle head shots on grouse or squirrels.” (1)

The grip is comfortable in a wide range of hands. “I had the Victory at a family shoot on Easter Sunday, and the participants ranged from petite ladies with little hands to giant 300-pound men. Everybody, without exception, loved the pistol.” (1)

  • The SW22 Victory is a semi-automatic pistol in a .22 LR caliber with a capacity of 10+1 rounds. It’s narrow and fits a variety of shooters comfortably with a polymer grip.
  • The trigger pull feels lighter than it is, and it’s crisp and clean. The recoil is manageable, and successive shooting comes easy.
  • The rear sight is adjustable unless you make use of the Picatinny rail, in which case both front and rear sights are fixed. They are both fiber optic in contrasting green and yellow colors.
  • The SW22 Victory comes in stainless or Kryptec Highlander camouflage, which adds a bit of flair for those interested.

SW22 VICTORY TARGET MODEL

The SW22 Victory Target model is built specifically for target shooting with the ideal sights, target grips, fully adjustable trigger stop, and thumb rest panels in the polymer grip for competition shooters.

SW22 VICTORY TARGET MODEL REVIEW

Some of the most significant enhancements on the SW22 Victory Target model include features perfect for competition target shooting. To accommodate a competitive shooter’s grasp, the textured polymer grips have thumb rest panels to make them more comfortable. These panels are ambidextrous for both right- and left-handed shooters.

The SW22 Victory Target model also has a target-style rear sight, adjustable for the shooter’s preference. However, the optional Picatinny rail allows for mounting electronic sights and removes the adjustable rear sight altogether.

“The standout feature of the Victory is its single-screw takedown, which eases disassembly for maintenance and cleaning. The pistol is built with a stainless-steel slide and frame, measures 9.2 inches long and weighs 36 ounces unloaded.” (2)

SW22 VICTORY VS RUGER MARK IV

The SW22 Victory offers better accuracy for target shooting, but the Mark IV is unmatched for long-term durability.

RUGER MARK IV

Every pistol has its strengths. The SW22 Victory is a fantastic target shooting pistol. It is accurate and customizable, making it the perfect companion when consistent aim is essential. The features and the ability to add on aftermarket accessories make it an excellent choice for competitive shooters.

The Ruger Mark IV comes in more finish options to suit each shooter’s preference as far as the looks and style are concerned. One key advantage to the Ruger is that the thumb safety is ambidextrous, and that’s a big deal to some.

Both are .22 LR caliber pistols with a long-standing reputation of being reliable. They both have the same capacity, both come in a Target model, and both offer easy takedown solutions for cleaning and maintenance.

SMITH AND WESSON 22 VICTORY - LAST WORD
