Rebate Pain in the A**
Rated 3 out of 5 stars by Headda on Apr 28, 2025
Ive been a Smith fan all my life. Own a dozen or so. But when trying to exercise the rebate it was tidious at best. Lots of hoops to jump thru. Never got my green dot. Called them and they gave me a list of things a mile long i must do in order to get the rebate. Screw em and thier sight! Im done w Smith. Gun is great, thats why 3 srars instead of one.
Disappointing

The safety lever is difficult to operate and the pistol would not extract spent brass. Instead, it jams. I sent my concerns to S&W but never got a response. I have now taken the pistol to a local gunsmith to correct the problems.
Great round, meh pistol

Solid pistol, love the 30SC round, but there are 2 glaring issues that keeps me from using this as a dedicated ccw. First - the shield rmsc cut was not done properly from s&w. It was not milled parallel to the barrel and the recoil bosses are too big. I sent mine to nameless armamant and they have a dedicated option to fixing this well known issue that s&w refuses to fix or recognize. Second, this is the only shield plus that has an issue with the slide locking back and not releasing by slingshot or slide release method. You have to hold rearward pressure while depressing the slide release. This happens randomly and on both 30SC models I've owned - my older shield 2.0 performance center .45 acp is flawless and my .40 s&w shield 2.0 was also flawless. If you want to roll the dice on these, then have it at. I will say when it works as intended, its a solid shooter and the 30SC round only didnt succeed because of the fudds paroting what they hear on the internet. This round begs to be in single stack 1911 commander frames and carbine options.
Shield Plus .30 Super Carry

Great gun. This is the second Shield plus I've bought this year. Really like the .30 Super Carry caliber. Straight shooting, great capacity, easy takedown, compact. everything I was looking for in a defensive firearm.
30 super carry is no slouch

Bought this as a carry pistol. The idea that there was a rebate to get a sight was cool too. Was not expecting this to bark like a 9mm or 40cal. I was expecting 32-380 recoil but this was a present surprise. The mags kinda are a pain to load. But this fits the hand well, has a very small print, and inspiring boom. Now the star knocked off this is because of the rebate. Smith and Wesson is dang stingy with issuing. I love the products and quality of the firearms but really not a fan of the rebate system.

had the original shield years ago but the plus is much superior to the original. the slightly larger grip allows better recoil control. the capacity is fabulous and the accuracy is unreal...
30 Super Carry

Great gun, 17 rounds, less recoil, flat shooting, only 5% lower powder than 9 mm. This caliber was designed for CCW and not to replace the 9mm. I have the 9mm and the 380 EZ and the 30 Super Carry fits that niche perfectly, and If you shop around you can find the 30 Super Carry ammo within a few $ of 9mm. I found federal 30 SC range ammo for $16.99 box
Concealable, shootable, and convertible

I bought this Shield plus in 30 Supercarry for the significant extra capacity while carrying. I also purchased a slide/barrel/mag in 9mm for cheaper training. The pierce grip EXTENSION for the small mag makes this pistol perfectly concealable and shootable.
Shield Plus is a fabulous firearm, but .30 SC doesn't work for me

This S&W Shield Plus is just like my other Shield Plus (a great sub-compact) with one exception - my other one is in 9mm. I bought the 30 SC because I was interested in less recoil to help control second and third shots (capacity was never an issue for me as the 9mm holds 10+1, which is plenty for me).
Unfortunately, I was unable to notice any significant reduction in the recoil. Just too similar to have two guns exactly the same, only one having more expensive ammo.
I'm sorry to Federal and Smith & Wesson. The concept of of .30 Super Carry was enticing, it just didn't work for me.
BEST EDC I OWN!!

I was waiting for the 30 SC ammo prices to fall, they have. You can find box of 50 for $15 now. When I saw this deal, had to pull the trigger, pun intended. Can't figure why more people don't realize how good these are. Deeper penetration, and less recoil than 9mm, and it comes with 16, and 13 round mags. Shoots so good it is now my EDC. Great choice for those who don't care about others opinion. They are missing out!
