Tisas 1911 Government Features

The Tisas 1911 Government is built around a 5" barrel chambered in .45 ACP, delivering the optimal balance of accuracy and maneuverability that has made the Government-length 1911 the gold standard of American pistol design for over a century. The single-action trigger mechanism provides a crisp, consistent pull that rewards proper technique and delivers the reliable performance that 1911 enthusiasts have come to expect from the platform. Standard GI sights offer a clean, traditional aiming solution true to the original 1911 specification.

The 1911 Government .45 ACP Cerakote pistol is constructed from steel throughout the frame and slide, ensuring robustness and longevity through sustained range use and carry conditions that would compromise lesser materials. The Cerakote finish adds a layer of corrosion resistance and durability beyond what traditional blued or parkerized finishes provide, extending the service life of the pistol in demanding environments. At 2.47 lbs. and 8.5" overall, the 1911 Government delivers the authoritative weight and balance that serious 1911 shooters demand from a full-size platform.

The 1911 platform has served as the gold standard of American pistol design since John Browning introduced it in 1911, adopted by the U.S. military for over seven decades and trusted by generations of soldiers, law enforcement officers, competitive shooters, and civilian enthusiasts who prize its single-action trigger and proven .45 ACP stopping power. Tisas has built a strong reputation for producing faithful, well-built 1911 variants that deliver the classic 1911 experience at an accessible price point without sacrificing the fit, finish, and reliability that define the platform. For shooters who want a traditional, no-frills Government-model 1911 in .45 ACP with modern Cerakote protection, the Tisas 1911 Government is the definitive choice.

Love it. Feels historic in your hands.

Rated 5 out of 5 stars by Dawkpac on Jun 11, 2024

I love it. People put too much into the price of things. I'm a bit of a history nerd especially Ww1 and ww2. This design carved through history time and time again and they did a great job replicating the original. It packs a punch and is so much fun to shoot. Despite the nub front site it's very accurate. Sometimes I wonder if we have over-evolved our hand guns when I go to the range with this one. Get it. Promise you'll love It. My buddy bought one soon after mine.

Excellent value 1911A1 Tribute

Rated 5 out of 5 stars by Brendan on May 11, 2026

Excellent quality, I received the pistol within 2 days to my FFL. Second purchase from Grab a Gun, will be more soon! The pistol fit, finish and quality is excellent. I’ve only put 330 rounds through so far, but it’s been great, love the classic look, and a great shooter. Honestly, can’t believe the price. The pistol I received was marked “Tisas Buford GA” unlike my previous Tisas that was marked “SDS Imports” also, the serial number and import mark has been moved under the forward most of the frame, not really visible until you look at the pistol upside down, appreciate that, and the tiny font. Only markings are the Tisas Buford GA on one side of the frame, and M1911A1 GOVT on the other side of the frame, slide is clean and blank. 2 mec gar mags, cleaning kit, wood and plastic grips, takedown tool and hard case. Thanks GrabAGun!

Lots more fun than a polymer 9

Rated 5 out of 5 stars by Hatuletoh on Oct 22, 2024

A Well-made, basic version of a proven design. Nothing fancy about it--the wood grips are nice--but I've run 560 rounds through it so far with only two stoppages, a failure to feed and a stovepipe, and both of those occurred in the first 150 rounds. It's been Perfectly reliable ever since, and more than accurate enough to accommodate my decidedly average shooting skills. If you want a SKELETONIZEd hammer and a BEAVERtail on your 1911 you can certainly pay more and get those and plenty of other acoutremants. But if you just want a reliable, reasonably priced version of your GRANDPAPPY's favorite pistol you'll be very happy with THe SDS/Tisas Government 1911.

Great quality at a low price!

Rated 5 out of 5 stars by Anonymous on May 24, 2025

So much gun for an amazing low price! Tisas makes a quality 1911 which replicates the WWII style pistol. Fit and finish are very good. Highly reliable and accurate. Might buy another just because the price is so low. GrabAGun’s shipping department is lightning fast. Had my pistol in less than 72 hours! Highly recommend purchasing from GrabAGun, and very highly recommend the Tisas 1911!

Reliable, consistent, accurate

Rated 5 out of 5 stars by Anonymous on Nov 15, 2024

When i first opened the box i could not believe the fit, finish, and quality of the gun. I bought a bucket of remington ball ammo and put through it. There were about 4 failures to feed in the first 100 rounds. After that, it simply keeps going. The last 200 or so rounds have fed perfectly. The front sight neesed to be moved to the right a bit because it was missing to the left. Now it is consistent and accurate.
