I want to build a rifle for XTC competition. This rifle is very accurate and is chambered in an appropriate caliber. Also, it is about $400 less expensive than the newer version with no real functional differences.

Looking for a rifle that I could use to develop my skills in long range shooting. Everything (and I do mean everything) that I have read about the Ruger 6mm Creedmoor has been stellar! Both the rifle and the cartridge have received great reviews, which played a large part in purchasing this particular rifle over the competition. Grabagun had a great price, so it was an easy decision.

I shoot a 6mmBR rifle in mid-range (300-600) competition, and can maintain .5moa if I do my part. The 6mm has excellent ballistic abilities, and all I have read indicates that the 6mm Creedmoor with reach 1200 yds with accuracy.

I own an RPR in 308, and it's a great rifle. I enjoy long-range shooting, and want to try the 6mm Creedmoor.
Darrell on Jan 30, 2019
First, the price. Second, I have been hearing/reading/watching nothing but good things about the RPR. I have also been a big Ruger fan since I bought their American Rifle a few years ago and have no doubts that I will love this one!

The PRP platform is incredible for the price. I have this gun in the 223Rem and 6.5 CM, and both shoot .25 moa or better. Ruger hit a home run with the PRP.

Is this the gen 2 ?
john on Aug 24, 2018
BEST ANSWER: This is Gen 2 of the Ruger Precision Rifle - Gen 1 didn't offer 6mm CM. Gen 3 (model 18032) has an "improved" handguard (which allows mounting a scope lower) and "Bolt body is nitrided for corrosion resistance, smooth operation and durability" per Ruger website. Check the model numbers - 18016 is Gen 2 which has original handguard and non-coated and rough bolt body. Mine came with 2 x 10-round MagPul mags and a barrel thread protector for when/if you remove the muzzle brake for cleaning.

Awesome accuracy
Out of the box with factory and not adjusting the trigger yet it shoots half minute groups at 100 yards. Haven't stretched it out to 100 yards yet.

Great gun
I had wanted one of these since I first heard of them. I happened to have some money on hand and was checking Grab A Gun's website and saw it for a great price. I did not hesitate to buy it.

This truly is a great gun. I am sure it is not up there with the likes of some custom-built ones, but when you compare it to factory-made bolt actions, this gun lets you know its different.

The best way I have found to describe it is if you have ever driven around in a car that cost you a few thousand, then one day buy a car that cost you ten's of thousands, you immediately know the difference.

Sure, both cars get you from point A to point B, but that more expensive car does so in a way that just feels better. The Ruger Precision is not going to make you a great shooter if your not, but it will smooth the ride for you to get there.

I have other bolt guns that I consider them to shoot great, but they take some effort to get those great groups. But, this gun makes it just seem easier to get great groups.

While working up a load I had a hard time deciding because all my 5 shot test loads shot less than 1" at 100yds. But once you find that load then it's obvious because all the bullets start going into one ragged hole.

In the end, if you have prior experience with custom guns and actions you might not think this rifle is that great. But as someone coming from buying bolt actions that are between $300 and $600, the price I paid for this rifle was well worth the cost. I 100% feel I got my monies worth from it.

Amazing rifle for price
Crazy accurate out of the box. 1/2” moa out of the box with factory ammo. Could not be more happy. Can’t wait to stretch it out on coyotes and steel!!!

Best non custom.built rifles you will ever own.
Awesome rifle likes in big beother I have the 6.5 rpr.
Ised hornady 108 eldx and after two 5 shot strings the barrel settled in.
Using hornadys 4dof dial to 500 and rang the 20" gone five times.
Utterly impressed by both rifles. So much so I placed on pre order the 6.5 prc in the rpr.
Only issue is finding the money to scope them. The 6.5 sports a us optics b25 and the 6 mm has a nxs 8-32.
This newest one will get an ior crusader.
100 yard second 5 shot group in 25 mph winds with gusts into the 30's.

What more can I say other than “I love this rifle”.
Ruger hit another home run with this design and I’ll never look back.
I’ve never been much of a marksman, but I was shooting 1” groups out of the box immediately.
I believe wether you may be an expert shooter or a novice shooter, this will make you happy.
Also being on the AR platform makes it the most versatile bolt action rifle I’ve ever seen or shot as far as modifications and adjustments go. Do yourself a favor and spend a couple extra dollars for this model, you won’t find it for a better price, that’s for sure. Also I’m new to the 6mm creedmore round, and from what I’ve seen, it delivers on each and every shot. A seasoned shooter could probably put 10 rounds through the same hole at 100 yards, no problem!

Outstanding Rifle!
The Ruger Precision is a well engineered piece of work! Looks great, very business like, and feels like a Long Range Precision Firearm. Grab A Gun had the best price available, reasonable shipping, and got it here real fast! Thanks, Guys.

It's everything I heard it was...
I put-off buying this rifle to research the heck out of it. After it went on sale at Grab-A-Gun, I ran out of excuses to wait and "pulled the trigger" on the purchase. I am happy to say that this rifle lives up to all of the positive reviews I read and watched online. I purchased a decent, reasonably priced 4-12x40 scope, mounted it and did a quickie laser bore-sighting job inside my house (with adequate results). Took it to the range to dial it in at 50 yds. The first shot was in the 8-ring, so I adjusted the scope, second in the 9-ring, adjusted again and all subsequent shots were dead-center and stayed there. The rifle is heavy compared to an AR, but I bought it to shoot from a bench, so that's actually a plus for me. I mounted a bi-pod and adjusted the stock to better fit me and I love it. It shoots fairly soft, as far as recoil, and the 6mm round (Hornaday Black, cheapest 6mm ammo I could find) fed and shot perfectly through 2 boxes. This is a great rifle and I couldn't find a deal anywhere near the one I got at Grab-A-Gun. My FFL was selling the exact same rifle for $1100+ when I picked mine up for transfer. I didn't tell him what I paid, but this has to be one of the best bargains out there for folks looking for this type of rifle. It would be heavy to hunt with, but long-distance target shooters should be pretty happy with this rifle, IMHO. I'm going to increase my target distance and shoot it again as soon as I can. I have pretty high expectations for that round at the range. I hope this review helps someone decide. I read many with similar praise for the RPR. Choose whatever caliber works best for your needs. Cheers!

Not a better precision rifle for the price.
This my 3rd RPR and it doesn’t disappoint. Shooting 108 ELD-Match reloads at 3100 FPS with a .38” group at 100 yds. Awesome price for a gun that shoots sub1/2” groups.
