I’ve been looking for a starter rifle in .308, DPMS has a good reputation so I decided I couldn’t pass on this.

After researching 6.8 SPC (and even the new kid .300 PRC) I decided that the tried and true .308 was what I wanted to hit harder and further than my 5.56. Yes I have a .224 Valkyrie but I wanted greater knock down below 200 yards. The price on this can't be beat and examples/ability to easily and affordably modify/upgrade are rife on the internet.

I have a dpms oracle .223 which works well

This is a good price for what you can get. Have wanted something a little bit more than the 223/556, and the 308 is what I have wanted for a long time. Only the price has been a little more than I can afford until now.

Is this a low or high profile upper?
Gerad on Nov 13, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Low profile upper. Awesome gun at the price point.
What size quad rail should I be looking at when I make this purchase?
Steven on Feb 14, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Since the barrel length is 16”, you can install a quad rail that is 15” or less. However, since the gas tube is carbine length, you will have to use a low profile gas block if you choose any rail beyond carbine length. Be sure a purchase a DPMS pattern rail with a low profile (0.151) to match the rail on the upper receiver.

Power feels great 👍
Love to tell everyone about it. Already have a nice oricle 223 DPMS, so decided to get the AR10 308. Has a substantialy more of a kick to it, but love it. Put a low variable scope on,and wow, I was really impressed! I would recommend this DPMS to everyone. Take a feel for yourselves.

surprisingly light
I have resisted purchasing an LR-308 because I thought they would be heavy. I also was waiting for a good price on one. Got a lightweight (to me at least) and a good price in this model

Oracle .308
First of all, thank you Grabagun for the fast shipping and, best of all, the great price. Like others have said, this a lot of gun for a little money. My other AR is a Colt Match Target Competition HBAR, so I know what I'm looking at. I'm pleasantly surprised at the fit/ finish and how substantial all of the parts are. It was a pretty tight disassemble taking it apart to clean it but with a good coating of GLC oil, it now glides nice and smooth. I can see how people break extractors if they skip cleaning and lubing it up real good. (Check your bore for obstructions too, while you have it apart, you never know and you don't want to find out the hard way.) What really surprised me was the trigger. In anticipation of the typical gritty long hard milspec pull, I watched every trigger job video and read every forum known to mankind. This trigger came right out of the box with very little take up and no grit, although it was a little tight on the pull, it felt like about 8 lbs. I did about 100 reps of the Paracord trigger job, now it feels more like a 6 pounder, which is perfect for me. A nice clean, crisp break. I put a Tacpad on the butt, the stock feels much better and stays stuck on my shoulder. I replaced the monstrous handguard (which really isn't that bad but it's molded to the barrel which is bad for harmonics and conducting heat to my hand) with a cheapo Sniper M38SL and, man, does it look nice now or what? Mounted the bipod, the 4X10-50 optics with a laser for up close work, a Magpul 20 round mag (a 30 rounder is TOO BIG, TOO HEAVY and I'm not that bad of a shot) and now I feel complete. Bring it on. The one drawback is that the stock rattles around pretty good but I'm not springing $150 on some exotic thing when ten cents worth of tape will solve that problem. The upper and lower had absolutely no play between them at all. Nice work. I'm impressed.

So, in short, unless this thing doesn't shoot, I couldn't be happier. Thanks, DPMS.

DPMS LR-308 Oracle
This is a great platform to start a custom build. Lock up, fit and finish are good, while the other observations about the stock and forearm are accurate. I customized mine with veriforce tactical keymod & mil-spec buffer tube w/spring and buffer, ergo grips, magpul stocks and magazines, BCM keymod rails, PSA enhanced triggers, among other items. The result: A complete makeover of the LR-308 into a true custom platform of top quality...

I Really Like Mine
I added a BSA 2.5-12 tactical scope to mine and love shooting it. I was a little frustrated with DPMS's break-in procedure but I followed it. This weapon is a joy to shoot. I added some Magpul 25 round mags to mine also.
