It saw widespread use during the Civil War as well as with your average Joe defending his self in the wild west. The 1851 Navy was also the favorite choice for the famed Wild Bill Hickok. This model features a silver frame with engravings as well as engravings on the barrel, and cylinder. The latter of which depicts a Navy battle hence the model name.
