In the over-under shotgun with a parallel rib, both barrels’ discharges will keep to the dead center, with the discharge from the under barrel shooting higher than the discharge from the over barrel after 40 yards. This means of converging targets allows for accuracy at practical ranges of their intended scope of use.

As a personal defense weapon, assailants often find the sight of two barrels to be intimidating, and it isn’t uncommon for a confrontation with a double barrel to be enough to frighten some would be criminals away. Certainly any who have seen the devastating damage a shotgun is capable of, regardless of the number of barrels will think twice before engaging a shotgun.
