The SP5 was developed by Heckler & Koch as a semiautomatic, civilian sporting pistol that matches the look and feel of the legendary MP5 submachine gun.
Designed and manufactured to meet the definition of a civilian pistol, the Heckler & Koch SP5 is loaded with authentic features, like a Navy barrel with threaded tri-lug adaptor, paddle magazine release, fluted chamber and chrome-lined bore.
The backbone of the SP5 is the roller-delayed blowback operating system, which is legendary for its accuracy, reliability, and smooth shooting dynamic. Originally perfected on the Heckler & Koch G3 rifle, it has been used on several other HK firearms still serving today around the world.
The H&K SP5 is manufactured in Heckler & Koch’s Oberndorf factory in southwest Germany. It retains many of the critical elements of the MP5, including its precision-machined components and attention to detail. This high level of quality and workmanship is a result of making the SP5 in the same factory, on the same lines, and by the same workforce that has been making MP5s for years.
For more comfortable shooting, the HK SP5 is equipped with an elastic “bungee” sling. The sling is easily installed by snapping it onto the sling swivel hardware located on the rear of the receiver. Using the sling makes firing the SP5 more stable and reduces fatigue.

You will need to file a form 1 with the ATF and pay a 200 dollar tax beofre you do this, as it will be a "short barrel" rifle. H&K makes an A3-F retractale stock for this purpose.
If you mean rifle rifle and not short. Why would you? They sell a sp5L with a 16” factory barrel.

Hard to fault. This is a platform that has earned it's place and it's price through long and vast service history. that alone is half of the price you will be paying for this top tier example. h&K simply makes the best and most authentic mp5 to date and any collector of the best would simply purchase this as an investment regardless of the price as we know it will not depreciate. I prefer a higher price tag as it relegates ownership to fewer numbers. with all that being said I purchased the best 9mm carbine ever made, it shoots cheap ammo, DOESN'T need to be BABIED, HANDS DOWN ONE OF THE MOST PRECISE BARRELS ON THE MARKET FOR NINE. I COULD HAVE ATTAINED THIS FOR FAR LESS BUT ON THAT SAME NOTE I WOULD BE OVERPAYING FOR A CLONE. This would be fine if all i wanted was to emulate the shooting experience but as a collector I know that there is no compromise to H&K when it comes to long term collectibles. I HAVE RAN ABOUT 5 MAGS THROUGH MY SP5 SINCE i GOT IT AND AS YOU COULD IMAGINE IT IS BUTTER SMOOTH AND THE FIT AND FINISH IS LIKE THAT OF A DESIGNER JEWELRY. IT IS LIKE ART THE FIRST FEW TIMES YOU BREAK IT DOWN AND YOU WILL HAVE NO DOUBT THAT IT TAKES A HIGH DEGREE OF ENGINEERING TO PERFECT THE FAMOUS ROLLER LOCKED BEAST. Be aware that h&K kept changes to a minimum to PRESERVE the mp5 navy's classic but import laws do make their way into the gun, that includes IMPORTATION as a pistol, not a rifle so must have pistol (castle) rear diopter sight as opposed to the original peep sight. this can be solved by swapping out the rear sight at some cost but to great benefit. also, it cannot accept any other trigger but the majority of owners only need semi auto. If you intend of ever getting an mp5 and need that h&K sticker then this is the time to buy. do not forsee these being AVAILABLE years from now.
I love everything about this gun. We took to the range immediately. The SP5 is incredibly accurate and has a surprisingly smooth recoil. Most importantly it is very fun to shoot! You will get a lot of envious looks and questions. You will want to get a pistol brace, as it gets a bit heavy after about 15 rounds. I found my grouping to no longer be a grouping after half a 30 round magazine. The bungy coocept sounds good in theory, but I struggled with it. As such, I've ordered a brace.
Great build quality and reliability. This platform has remained popular for decades because - and for good reason. The Function, smooth operation, balance, handling, and accuracy are excellent for close quarters engagements. I’m thrillEd with my purchase and am confident This gun will never Become Another safe-queen.
Awesome firearm and well-built. It's an HK, absolutely no compromise. It is a bit pricey and there are cheaper clones out there, but that HK stamp is well worth the money. Highly recommend if you enjoy HK firearms, but also want a piece of history. Sure, you can buy/build an AR pistol for cheaper and with a more effective caliber, but it will never be considered an all-time classic that gets all the attention at the gun range.
After the sp5k had to round out the best decision SP5, never compromise.
