The Luzon closing knife was designed by COLD STEEL president Lynn C. Thompson in collaboration with Mike Wallace. The knife was named after the largest Philippine island of Luzon (LOO-ZAHN). Luzon's shape is inspired by several Lynn's personal balisongs, but thanks to his classic clasp knife design, Luzon is the right alternative to areas of the world where balisongs can not be legally worn or owned. The knife blade is made of stainless steel 8Cr13MoV which after heat treatment has hardness 57-58 Rockwell. Thanks to the shape of the blade, the knife is designed primarily for points, but due to the concave, arched, abdominal shape of the blade, the knife cuts very well. The knife handle is inspired by the bamboo shape and is made of glass fiber nylon with GFN designation. Thanks to the shape of the Luzon handle it makes it easy to hold in multiple positions. The knife is equipped with two locking fuses for greater safety. The blade is secured by a linerlock against self-closing and by a secondary safety mechanism, which is extremely shock-resistant when switched on. Luzon is available in two sizes. In both cases, Luzon has a hole for safety cords. Luzon is a left-handed but practical pocket lock for EDC.
