How Backwoods Suppressors Turned Two Months Into Momentum

In two back-to-back campaigns this summer, GrabAGun helped Backwoods Suppressors grow from a brand new name on our site into one of the most talked-about products in our suppressor category.

The timing was right. Suppressor demand has surged in 2026. The $200 federal transfer tax went away in January, and ATF data shows more than 845,000 suppressor applications in the first five months of the year. Then in August, a federal court ruling against the NFA’s registration requirements pushed interest even higher. Hunters and first-time buyers are coming into the category, and they want a brand they can trust.

Backwoods brings that kind of credibility. Founder and CEO Greg Prince started the company with two Olympic shotgun athletes: Vincent Hancock, a four-time Olympic gold medalist in men’s skeet, and Conner Prince, a Paris 2024 silver medalist. The team builds suppressors for hunters, drawing on four generations of manufacturing experience.

This summer, Backwoods teamed up with GrabAGun on a two-month market development campaign to put its lineup in front of our customers.

Two campaigns, one story

We built a two-month program that put Backwoods in front of GrabAGun shoppers at every major touchpoint. August introduced the lineup. September built on that awareness and turned it into sales.

Each month brought together:

  • Dedicated and featured email placements
  • Social media content
  • On-site merchandising and search placement
  • Product video content Engagement-driving promotions

The results

In just two months, Backwoods sales on GrabAGun reached six figures, and the brand built momentum that grew month over month.

  • Strong sales growth: Sales climbed from the first month to the second as more shoppers discovered the brand.
  • Broad audience reach: Tens of thousands of shoppers engaged directly with the campaign across email, social, and GrabAGun.com.
  • Above-average email engagement: Dedicated Backwoods emails outperformed GrabAGun’s typical open rates.
  • Social buzz: Backwoods content reached more than a million views on social media. A breakout product: The Coyote 5.56 was the top seller in both months.

Why it worked

No single channel did the heavy lifting. The results came from running every channel toward the same goal, two months in a row.

Engagement came before the sale. The campaign gave shoppers a reason to interact with Backwoods before they were ready to buy. Tens of thousands of shooters learned the name, so it was top of mind when they were ready to check out.

Content answered buyers’ questions. Suppressors are a considered purchase. Product video content helped shoppers pick the right can for their rifle and their hunt.

The second month compounded the first. The September campaign reached shoppers who already knew the brand from August. That familiarity shows up in the September sales jump.

Real-time feedback shaped the plan. Monthly recaps showed which models were landing and which needed a different approach. Backwoods and GrabAGun used those insights together to plan the next steps.
