No putty has to go behind the grip and no holes have to be drilled. Two custom screws provided with it replace the mainspring housing pin and the hammer pin. These two, along with the two grip screws, provide a fantastic quad lock fit. By mounting on the right side it stays clear of all the "trick" accessories and iron sights are still usable.
