My duty weapon
Love it. Shoots great. Does not feel heavy and recoil does not feel bad at all.

Springfield 1911 TRP 10mm is a monster
Springfield 1911 10mm is a monster. Currently shoot {a lot} a .45 TRP and had been looking for a 10mm 1911. Came close to getting the Ruger, but with my experience with the TRP, went with the Springfield. Went to the range with an assortment of ammunition {Sig, Grizzly, Sellier & Beloit, Atomic and Underwood}. Had two FTE, both with the Atomic 180gr. Shot 250 rounds mixed and those were the only problems firing. The Sig and S&B FMJ shot fine and while a little more recoil than the .45, nothing to worry about. The Sig and Atomic JHP had some more snap, but the G10 grips and front/backstrap texture made control not an issue. Getting up to the Underwood 155gr {@1500fps}, {the rangemaster came over to see what was making all the noise} the recoil was noticeable, but once again the grips and texture allowed good control. The front strap texture is a lot less aggressive than on the .45 TRP, but still provides a solid grip-> I do like it better as it does not tear up the hand when shoot a large amount. The one change from the .45 that I wish that SA had kept was the lack of magwell: the one on the TRP .45 makes the mag changes much faster for me. I may end up putting one on down the road. I think the trigger on the .45 is a little better, but with over 5k in rounds, it might just be broken in more. The trigger on the 10mm is very good, where I rate the trigger on the TRP .45 as excellent. Two other small issues: the set screw for the rear sight came loose: a drop of threadlocker and that should take care of the problem. Also, a grip screw worked loose. Being honest, I did not check either one of those when I cleaned it. The question is: is it worth twice the price of the Ruger SR1911…. Maybe. It is a smoother action and the fit/finish is great, but at this price it should be. Would I buy it again? Without a doubt. Overall I would rate this as 4.5/5.0, and the .5 down is strictly based on the cost vs the Ruger SR1911.
