History of Ruger
Sturm, Ruger & Co. began as the brainchild of William B. Ruger, whose prototype of the Ruger Standard attracted the attention of investor and designer Alexander M. Sturm in 1949. Ruger's ability to create elegantly simple designs without the unnecessary expenses of the competition has made Ruger firearms an American standard. Following Sturm’s investment - and contribution of the company's now-famous Red Eagle emblem to Ruger's prototype - the low-cost .22 caliber originally known as an alternative for sport and target shooters, became the most popular .22 caliber semi-automatic pistol ever produced.
