- Quality 1911
Hadn't seen much about this MetroArms MAC 1911 Classic, but at the time of my purchase, the price was hard to beat compared to other models out there. Now, the price is quite a bit more, and it probably merits the increase. This gun has a very tight fit and high quality feel, it is a lot of fun to shoot and the action is smooth. I really like the look and feel of the extra wide slide serrations which are unique to this gun. The bull barrel adds some weight to the front end which helps with target reacquisition. And the fiber optic sight is a must have, wouldn't recommend the adjustable Bomar-style site without it. I read a lot of message boards where owners tossed out the factory magazine. I kept mine. Stuffed it with ammo to start breaking it in and let it sit. Initially had a few FTF issues, but I've put about 200+ rounds threw it now (which was recommended in the manual) and have not had a single problem. Overall gun performance is top-notch. Did head shots from 3-24 yds in 3 yrd increments, and had a decent 5 in. grouping for 8 rounds. I'm a first time 1911 owner and did not want to break the bank, I would recommend it to anyone interested in considering a high quality 1911 with a lot of bang for the buck. Do your research, amazing deals can still be had on this gun.
