Scopes, Optics & Mounts
When we think about gun scopes and optics, the first thing that comes to mind, or at least the most common, is hunting. Although scopes and optics are also used in the military every day, for the home gun owner scopes and optics are often used for hunting.
What is a gun scope? A gun scope helps you to get the best amount of accuracy from whichever gun you are using it on. They are also helpful if you are taking part in a common mistake; gun scopes help to fix this. If you’re looking to shoot more accurately, adding a gun scope is the way to go.
How do they work? Scopes work by magnifying the area you are intending to shoot. The higher the magnification, the less area you can see through the scope. There are drawbacks to the higher magnification you’re using, which is why it’s important to know a little bit before choosing the type of scope you want.
What are optics? The word “optics” in reference to guns can mean a variety of things. You’ve seen a gun with a red dot pointing at it’s target, right? This is a red dot sight and assists with aiming. The same type of red dot technology is used in training devices, to help gun users have better aim. Different types of scopes are also referred to as optics; these words can be interchangeable in the gun world.
