- Great Little Gun
Purchased this gun to teach my kids, gave it a test run at the range to familiarize myself with it. Was pretty impressed, able to put together 2" patterns at 50yds right out of the box. Sure the kids and I will have years of fun plinkiing and modifying this little Ruger.
- Good 22 rifle but a little overpriced
This is my 5th 10/22 and as the other three (one of the four is a take down), only the receiver and trigger group is what I have use for. I have a 20" match barrel in stainless steel and a target stock waiting to meet the 10/22 receiver to form a heavy target .22 rifle. Due to the experience with Ruger 10/22 rifle performance on paper target, every 10/22 I bought is for modification and the barrel is the first thing to be replaced. Since I only shot factory 10/22 about 20 years ago when I bought my first 10/22 and the take down about a year ago, I wanted to see if this one is as disappointing as the first 10/22 I bought and the take down, I shot this rifle right out of the box without any modification. Not even a scope, just the iron sight. I have a Marlin model 60 with a scope on it and the accuracy of this stock 10/22 with iron sight is just slightly less accurate than the Marlin. I was surprised and not sure what to do next. I probably will buy another 10/22, maybe a used one, to complete my project and keep this one as is. Overall impression about this particular 10/22 is good and I would recommend it to anyone in the market for a semi-auto .22 LR rifle.
