Surprisingly good quality. Fits are tight, metal surfaces are as good as I've seen. No malfunctions in 400 rounds. Parkerizing is pretty thin. Stock steel, GI sights are adequate. (Posted on 5/29/12)
Al has retired but still does a lot of shooting

I was active duty military for 31 yrs, just retired. I have always felt a soft spot for the 1911 45. I learned to field strip it in basic training then carried it thru Veitnam for 13 months. The gun was a friend to me and protected me on every flight ( I was a helo pilot and we carried 45s as a defensive weapon in case we got shot down). I shot the gun aften as ammo was free and we could shoot whenever we wanted ... I got pretty good with it. It never jamed on me, never misfired and always performed as expected. This High Standatd 45 is exactly what I wanted .. a bear-bones GI 45. It shoots great feels good and does whats expected of it. Its like going back in time 40 yrs. Like I said a great gun at a great price. (Posted on 4/23/12)
Hello 1911!

After firing my friends High Standard 1911, I knew I had to have one! GrabAGun had the best price I could find, but I had never ordered from here before. I am glad I did, because unlike others I have ordered from in the past, GrabAGun shipped the next day, the shipping was a flat (discounted) rate of just $5.99, there was no 3% credit card fee and the gun arrived in a gun case with one mag, just as described. My only concern/complaint was they did not include a gun lock, which according to my FFL, he could not transfer the gun to me without. So I had to go back to my house, pick up a gun lock from one of my other guns to give to my FFL so he could legally transfer the gun to me. Whether this was a mistake by GrabAGun, I don't know. A minor issue. After cleaning the gun up (it looked as though it had been stored in an oil soaked plastic bag for years) I took it out to the range and fired 50 rounds through it - flawlessly. Thank you GrabAGun! (Posted on 3/15/12)
Very good GI quality sidearm

Very good GI quality sidearm. Made by Armscor. I bought one of these with a Cimarron 1911. I am in the process of reliability testing both weapons. The first test is 1000 to 1500 rounds of mixed ball, HP and +P ammo without cleaning. So far this weapon has about 330 rounds without a malfunction. (Posted on 1/18/12)
